Writing My Heart Out
There is no ONE WAY to write….no ONE WAY to get organized or get into the zone or 5 steps to becoming a better writer. I have found only one really important thing for me…Time with the Lord. My writing time in the morning consists of a rather strange mix of prayer and brain dumping. Whether I am trying to think something through or I am just getting my frustration out, writing it down ALWAYS makes it better. I am not stuck in my head, plus because it is more a conversation with God than anything else I have had the Holy Spirit speak to me through those words on the page. Not only that but when I go to write a blog post, or a script I want HIS words to speak through me, not my own. My words NEVER come out right, but when I pray for Him to guide me the words just flow. I have gone back and re-read things that I have written in a moment of pure release to Him and thought to myself “What in the world…Where did that come from?” And then I remember, those aren’t my words.
Matthew 10:19-20 NKJV
But when they deliver you up, do not worry about how or what you should speak. For it will be given to you in that hour what you should speak; for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.
And because of this I am again reminded of what the Lord has called me to do when it comes to making films that Glorify His name. As long as I seek after Him and His words, I will be fine.
